Tiny Teddy Dress

This dress is designed to fit on the Tiny Teddy whose pattern can be found on the yarn wrappers for Lion Brand Chenille.

MATERIALS:
Lion Brand Chenille Sensations, Florence Print (or desired color) - 1 skein makes many
8" length of 1/8" ribbon
Aluminum crochet hook size G
Yarn needle

Note:  For best results, make the bear first and try the dress on it after you've made the bodice part to make sure it fits.  If it doesn't, adjust your hook size accordingly.  The bodice of the dress is worked in rows; the skirt in rounds.
 

BODICE

Starting at neckline, ch 15.

Row 1:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 13 chs: 14 sc.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 2:  2 sc in first sc, sc in each of next 12 sc, 2 sc in last sc: 16 sc.  Ch 1, turn.

Row 3:  Sc in first 2 sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc (armhole made), sc in next 6 sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc (2nd armhole made), sc in last 2 sc:  10 sc and 2 ch-3 sps.  Join to first sc with sl st and begin working in rnds.  Do not fasten off or turn.

SKIRT

Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch 1), skip first sc, hdc in next sc, ch 1, (skip next sc, hdc in next sc, ch 1) around, join to 2nd ch of first ch-3.

Rnd 2:  Sl st in first ch-1 sp, (ch 4 [counts as dc, ch 1], dc) in same sp (beg V-st made), (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sp (V-st made) and in each sp around, join to 3rd ch of first ch-4.

Rnd 3:  Sl st in first sp, (ch 5 [counts as dc, ch 2], dc) in same sp, dc between next 2 dc, ([dc, ch 2, dc] in next sp, dc between next 2 dc) around, join to 3rd ch of first ch-5.

Rnd 4:  Sl st in first sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next dc, (ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next dc) around, ch 3, join to first sc, fasten off.

SLEEVE EDGING

Join yarn with sc to top of sleeve (on row 2) and work (ch 3, skip next st, sc in next st) over top of sleeve, fasten off.  Repeat for other sleeve.

FINISHING

If desired, edge neck in the same way as sleeves:  working in foundation chain, work (sc, ch 3, skip next ch) across.

Put dress on bear and sew the opening at the back in the bodice shut.  Weave the piece of ribbon through rnd 1 of the dress and tie a bow at the front.
